La Primavera

A moment to brag… while those in the northern hemisphere are enjoying the lovely colors of fall leaves and waning days that will soon lead to a frosty winter, we here in the southern hemisphere are welcoming the new spring and the approach of warm weather with excited anticipation. Yesterday, Friday September 21st, was the official first day of spring here in Argentina. Though adults still had to work, children were free from studies and spent their time loudly playing in the park. The weekend weather has been nothing short of phenomenal. It’s like Mother Nature knew it was the “official” first weekend of spring. Strong sun, cloudless skies, a nice crisp but pleasant breeze… Today was made for strolling through parks. And that’s exactly what we did.

We went to this really cool organic market that popped up in el Bosque de Palermo. They had lots of vendors selling everything from fresh bread to organic beer to flavored sea salts to fresh made food. I think the market is there about once a month during the summer, so I’m looking forward to trying a bunch of stuff. We meandered  through the market (that’s right… meandered) and then got some food and had an impromptu picnic in the park… not a bad Saturday afternoon. 🙂

Before getting to the market, they had pony rides in front of the zoo! I admit… the little girl inside me wanted to put on the sombrero and take a ride too. But I think my feet would drag on the concrete and my little horse would have a hard time walking…

these guys just wanted to get to know one another. Though I think the dachshund didn’t realize this guy was so big from far away. You can see the astonishment in his eyes.

He’s very enthusiastic about salts.

definitely have to go back and pick up some herbs to grow on our terrace

Really fresh sandwiches and wraps!

Nom Nom Nom Nom Nom!

I dont event know what to say for this guy except that he was amazing!

And was so sweet letting this girl pet his 3 puppies all she wanted, until her parents pulled her away.

We found a market near us that has organic food

chillin in the park having ourselves a picnic
