Afternoon coffee is often taken with some kind of sweet. A very popular option is the medialuna which is like a smaller and thinner version of a croissant, but a little breadier and sometimes with a sweet glaze on it. These are made with whole wheat flour (trying to be a little healthy…). When we first got here, Jesse and I saw cafe y medialuna on the menu and thought it was related to the medianoche (cuban sandwich). We were pretty excited about this because we were fairly hungry at the time. We were clearly a bit mistaken but it was not an unhappy surprise. They were delicious.
